We just wanted to let you know that English360′s newest resource has just gone live. English for Social Influence Marketing, by Paul Sweeney and Pete MacKichan, is the latest in our growing collection of bespoke courses written specially for English360 using our digital authoring tools. The course investigates the concepts of Social Influence Marketing (SIM) using real-world examples to look at the language of SIM and how it’s used. Focusing on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, learners explore how companies use these applications in marketing and the language they employ.

Video activity from Social Influence MarketingThe course looks at both big names (Home Depot, Levis) and smaller businesses (Naked Pizza, CoffeeGroundz) guiding learners through the ideas and concepts using authentic material from the companies’ sites and comment from forums and blogs. A short case study of Starbucks provides learners with a template for the final project where they can explore their own area of interest and produce a report or presentation.

English for Social Influence Marketing is a short course (12 hours) aimed at Upper Intermediate (B2) level learners. Although it’s designed primarily as self-study it can also be used with a teacher/trainer as, like all English360 Resources, it’s  flexible and adaptable. In keeping with the spirit of collaboration, Paul and Pete have decided to make their material available under a  Creative Commons license. This means that teachers can not only copy English for Social Influence Marketing into their Courses to use off the shelf, but also edit the copied material to further personalise the content for their learner’s needs.
